We are looking for an experienced, strategic and highly creative social media & influencer marketing manager; someone who is passionate about, and has a deep understanding of, social trends, insights, and best practices, and understands how to translate them into a clear strategy and marketing plan. This person should be eager to make bold moves, and take some risks, while understanding how to use the brand strategy to guide those decisions.

The social media and influencer marketing manager will own all owned social media channels; from channel, messaging and content strategy to community management and day-to-day social posting. They will also lead influencer marketing, working closely with PR on strategy and execution. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to help shape the social media strategy, and role of social media within the organization.

This is a fast-paced, high-impact role that requires a nimble thinker who can move quickly and project-manage like a pro. The social media and influencer marketing manager is a key member of our marketing organization, sitting within the brand communications team, and reporting to the Director of Brand and Communications.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and execute overall and seasonal social media channel and content strategy, marketing plan, and measurement, ensuring aligning with overall brand strategy and marketing communications calendar
  • Own the day-to-day community management on owned social channels, including posting proactive copy, image and video content; reactively engaging fans and followers in meaningful and helpful conversation; and seeking opportunistic moments for the brand to engage with consumers via owned social channels in real time
  • Own the brand voice on social media, and develop how it comes to life per channel
  • Manage the brand blog strategy, storytelling and content creation for it
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute their social media-specific needs, using the right channel and content mix:
    • Member services team for development, training of day-to-day social listening and response to member requests and feedback
    • Corporate communications team for corporate partnerships & events, and company events support
    • PR for influencer programming and on-site activation support
    • Acquisition team for paid social planning and content
    • Field Marketing team for local social media posts
    • Brand and Content manager to create channel-specific content
  • Coordinate content and messaging on social channels across all segments (Consumer, University, Zipcar for Business)
  • Own social monitoring and reporting on things like audience feedback and behavior in response to campaigns, content, and promotions to uncover new opportunities to increase brand awareness engagement, member satisfaction, and revenue
  • Participate in the planning and creation of the quarterly brand communications calendar based on relevant news cycle, and social media-worthy moments
  • Work with agency partners, and manage relationships with third party vendors (i.e. contact center, social media tool providers)
  • Manage the social media budget, from planning to invoice submission and accruals tracking
  • Manage social media tools and reporting; evaluate and make recommendations on tools and technology to use

  • Exceptional communicator, both written and oral; ability to build consensus and strong relationships cross-functionally in order to influence, persuade, gain support, input and approvals
  • Proven analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills; understanding of key social media metrics and KPIs, and best way to measure them
  • Strong project management skills and strengths in managing multiple projects/deadlines; ability to set priorities and be flexible in changing environments
  • High EQ and strong interpersonal skills; a team player, positive go-getter, and all-around good person
  • Understanding of how to use and balance emotional and functional content on social media
  • Proven ability to engage fans and followers, build communities and a fan base, and facilitate positive interactions and sentiment


  • 5-7 years of marketing experience in social media, community management and influencer marketing, preferably most recently in a management role
  • Experience working cross-functionally and with an agency partner
  • Deep understanding of basic marketing principles (A/B testing, control groups, measuring incrementality), social trends, insights, and best practices, and how to apply them to create a social media strategy and marketing plan
  • Experience creating a social media strategy and marketing plan
  • Strong understanding across all formats and channels
  • Use of content and social management platforms like Kapost and Sprinklr
  • Experience working cross-functionally, managing external partners and internal stakeholders/clients.
  • Active personal social channels
  • Experience with a brand using social media for member/customer service a plus
  • Consumer brand and segment strategy experience a plus
  • B.A. required
